  • EIT Digital Accelerator is recognized as one of the Top 5 Public Business Accelerators worldwide and the best pan-European one

Brussels, 12 November 2019 - UBI Global, the Stockholm-based intelligence company and community, known for high-quality intelligence, assessment, and mapping of business incubation, released the top rankings of business incubators and accelerators as assessed in the World Benchmark Study 2019 - 2020. The recognitions and announcements took place at the World Incubation Summit 2019 in Doha, Qatar on November 6, 2019.

EIT Digital Accelerator was recognized as the best Public Business Accelerator programme with a pan-European reach and one of the Top 5 Public Business Accelerators worldwide. According to UBI Global’s assessment, the EIT Digital Accelerator has demonstrated exceptional achievement in value for client startups, value for the European ecosystem, and overall attractiveness.

“We are honored with the international recognition by UBI Global,” states Dolf Wittkämper, Head of EIT Digital Accelerator. “A big thank you goes to the team that is using its expertise and passion to help European deep technology scaleups achieve international success, whether to give them access to new customers or to open doors to investors. We want to help create the next European Unicorns".

The pan-European EIT Digital Accelerator team comprises around 40 experienced business developers and finance experts providing two core services: The Access to Market team connects tech scaleups to international target customers and help them conquer new markets while the Access to Finance team supports scaleups to raise venture capital. The Accelerator is focused on scaleups only, as opposed to early-stage startups.

“Following a rigorous data-driven approach, we assessed and benchmarked incubation programs across the world,” says Holger Meyer, Director of Research at UBI Global. ”Our World Benchmark Study 2019 - 2020 is in tune with the multiple facets of the international incubation ecosystem and illustrates key challenges and opportunities faced by the participating programs.”

This year, a total 364 Incubator and Accelerator programs located in 78 countries were analyzed by UBI Global. One of the outcomes of the benchmark study is identifying the world’s top Incubator and Accelerator programs in the categories Public, Private and University.
