About the Role

We are looking for an organised and dynamic professional to bring the community activities of Europe’s largest open innovation ecosystem to the highest professional standards. The Community Manager is expected to invigorate relationships between different stakeholders (like academia, startups, students, corporates, investors), manage community platforms, narrate, and design the interaction points between community members, curate the discussions and offer feedback to internal teams. The Community Manager will also be expected to organise and produce events from conception to completion with special attention to lead generation and post-event interactions.

We are looking for a ‘people person’ with great organisation skills and the ability to moderate online and offline conversations with our communities of stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake targeted and effective action towards onboarding and maintaining an online community;
  • Monitor and moderate discussions, exchanges, and user-generated content on the community platform, including reviewing posts, comments, and interactions to ensure compliance with community guidelines, promote constructive dialogue, and maintain a positive and inclusive environment);
  • Provide community feedback to the management and stakeholders;
  • Post News / Stories / Open call for applications to help relay important information to community members in a targeted way;
  • Moderate Groups on various social media channels;
  • Monitor and manage the operation of a Helpdesk;
  • Plan and execute community initiatives and programmes;
  • Promote and generate awareness about the different EIT Digital services to members: regular matchmaking events, trainings, bootcamps and workshops;
  • Maintain and manage the directory of companies and people in the ecosystem to help find relevant touch points for the stakeholders;
  • Develop and maintain the event calendar;
  • Event planning, design and production for the communities while managing all project deliveries against the given deadlines;
  • Liaise with vendors and potential sponsors, invitees and other 3rd parties;
  • Proactively handle any arising issues on event day;
  • Conduct pre- and post- event evaluations and report on outcomes.

Requirements

  • A University degree of minimum 3 years in Media studies/ Journalism/ Public and Institutional Relations or relevant. A Master’s degree in relevant studies will be considered as a plus;
  • Must have a minimum of five years of experience managing communities with more than 2000 members;
  • A minimum of 7 years of original content production for different media. Relevance to the digital innovation ecosystem will be considered a plus;
  • Have a solid understanding of the (digital) innovation ecosystem and its actors;
  • Be able to demonstrate high quality skills in content creation and knowledge management;
  • Ideally two years organising events, preferably in technological companies;
  • Experience in both academic and innovation communities;
  • Solid experience in Project Management, including but not limited to team management, risk management, resources management and reporting;
  • Experience in working with Public Sector clients will be considered as a plus;
  • Excellent operational, time management and communication skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders;
  • Sales skills and ability to build productive business relationships;
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, CRM and project management tools;
  • Aptitude in problem solving;
  • MS Office proficiency;
  • Willingness to travel across Europe and EIT Digital offices as needed for the job.

Language

  • Mastery of English, with superior verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of any of these languages: French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, German, Finnish, Swedish or Hungarian is a merit.

Place of employment

Preferably at EIT Digital HQ in Brussels, although location at one of the EIT Digital European offices with easy connection for travel in Europe might be considered.

Reporting to

The Community and Event Manager reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager.
