The Idea Challenge finalists in the category Smart Spaces

Home win in Helsinki! The start-up Radiomaze, formerly known as Ekin Labs Oy and a spin-off of the Tampere University of Technology, won Gold for “Hi Wifi”. The software technology transforms existing WiFi networks into a smart security system that is able to detect human presence and motions.

The second prize went to Sorry As a Service from Estonia. The start-up presented a customer retention platform that helps retailers to retain unhappy clients. Customer support agents can dispatch physical apologies to their clients within their CRM system.

The Spanish start-up PopPlaces received the third prize for Spanish marketplace that offers spaces to rent on a horal or daily basis e.g. for pop up stores, events or private occasions.

The winning teams were selected out of ten finalists and will not only receive a cash prize but also get access to EIT Digital’s pan-European innovation network and benefit from international growth support through the EIT Digital Accelerator.

Beside the start-up pitches, attendees had the opportunity to find out more about EIT Digital’s work in Finland to identify and support digital start-ups, co-invest in bringing research to market and its leading education programmes being delivered in partnership with some of Europe’s top universities. Speakers included Ari Virtanen, Senior Vice President from Kone, and Jani Kivioja, Director of Digital Health Lab from Nokia.
