The EIT Digital team in London is working ever more closely with high profile partners to uncover some of the strongest digital innovations in the capital.

As part of this, EIT Digital recently supported a pitch event with partners, the Institute for Sustainability and the Mayor of London’s office. Helping to deliver on the Mayor’s Smart London Vision, this event considered finalists in two challenge areas: Wayfinding and Creating Communities. Both challenges were set by the Smart London Districts Innovation Network, a group of major stakeholders delivering London’s most ambitious large-scale district-level redevelopment projects.

EIT Digital helped judge over 80 submissions from across Europe in response to these two challenges, and eight finalists were asked to pitch to an audience of potential buyers at City Hall. Finalists have the opportunity to work with district stakeholders and, where appropriate, with our EIT Digital Accelerator team.

Dennis Moynihan, London Director, EIT Digital, said:

"London is widely regarded as a true hotspot for innovation and entrepreneurship. With our partners, EIT Digital is at the centre of many exciting efforts to drive the adoption of digital innovations. Working with the Mayor of London’s office on “Smart London” initiatives is a great way to promote our EIT Digital Business Communities, bringing together our best results with the stakeholders looking to adopt and deploy world-class digital technologies."

The London node is also a partner in the forthcoming EIE London event working with the University of Edinburgh, UCL Advances and UCLB, EIE London 2015 will showcase 12 outstanding UK ICT companies with high growth potential to potential investors. Four of these companies are EIT Digital coached start-ups. The event will be held on November 15 in central London.

The London node will then be in City Hall again on November 23 to host the Urban Life and Mobility Ideas Challenge final and end of year results day working with the Smart London Board and Mayor of London’s office.
