On April 29, 2019, Magnetic Latvia – the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia – hosted, in collaboration with the EIT Digital Silicon Valley Hub, Latvia's Minister of Economics, Mr. Ralfs Nemiro, senior government officials, and entrepreneurs from Latvia for an investment presentation and networking event in San Francisco. Titled “Meet Latvia: Gateway to Business in Europe and Beyond,” the event highlighted advantages of doing business and R&D in Latvia.
“Latvia is a proud member state of the European Union and it is a pleasure to see our entrepreneurs on a fast growth path in Silicon Valley, as well as the increasing trend of global businesses leveraging the engineering talent pool in Riga to speed up their expansion and ensure high quality digital products” said Minister Nemiro in his opening remarks. “One word that describes Latvia is ‘connectivity’ — digital, physical, and cultural connectivity, opening doors for potential investors”, said Ms. Madara Ambrena, Head of the Ministry of Economics' Startup Support Department. Jan Grotenbreg introduced the audience to EIT Digital Silicon Valley Hub’s initiatives in support of European ventures, helping them to sell their products and services in the US market and providing a gateway to Europe for US-based organizations. The program concluded with elevator pitches from five startups, including Vizulo, Digibrand, and Monetizr, furthering interest in their businesses and products.
The event was an opportunity for the present Silicon Valley investors and business representatives as well as the Latvian delegation to establish fruitful relationships and strengthen collaborative innovation in Europe.
