The 3rd edition of Startup Europe comes to Silicon Valley (SEC2SV), the premier program for future European startup unicorns ready to welcome 15 companies from 9 countries.

For the third consecutive year, SEC2SV is ready to welcome a selection of the best European Tech Scaleups for a week of local presentations and meetings, including European Innovation Day at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View on September 20th.

Organized by Mind the Bridge and EIT Digital with the support of the European Commission and European Parliament, SEC2SV embodies today the premier program for future European unicorns to engage with main US industry players for business, funding and collaboration opportunities in order to rapidly scale up on the other side of the Atlantic.

With total revenue of over $60M and 800 employees these 15 promising selected tech companies come from Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and the UK, and cover verticals such as Mobile Advertising, Digital Marketing, Marketing Technology, Fintech, Education, Wearables/IoT, Big Data Analytics, Energy, Health, Security, Wireless, TV-Multimedia, System Management.

To be considered for the SEC2SV delegation, companies needed to demonstrate significant growth in revenue and/or number of employees during the last 3 years and to be ready for expansion into the US market. The average annual revenue for the selected companies is $4M+ and the average number of employees is 50+.

The selected scaleups will spend an entire week (18-22 September) in Silicon Valley alongside a delegation of visiting officials from the European Commission, European Parliament, European Committee of the Regions, EU member state representatives including 3 Secretaries of State, investors and senior executives of established corporations.

Each company will present their business at the SEC2SV European Innovation Day Conference (#SEC2SV) to an international audience of over 500 attendees at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View.

Eric Thelen, Director of EIT Digital's Silicon Valley hub states that: "Once again, SEC2SV 2017 will demonstrate the huge potential of European technologies in the American market and provide top European entrepreneurs with excellent opportunities for succeeding in Silicon Valley. EIT Digital is proud to connect outstanding European talent with the innovative heart of the USA: San Francisco and the Bay Area."

"We're very excited to once again welcome a great selection of European scaleups to Silicon Valley. Since 2014 we have been working hard to strengthen the conversation between EU and US, help policymakers better understand the real needs of the markets and let them have a tighter grip on the upcoming trends as they emerge by giving them first hand experience. As demonstrated in the past editions, we hold high expectations for the futures of these companies and hope to pave the way for them to become the next European unicorns- Marco Marinucci, CEO Mind the Bridge comments.
