The Role

The Ecosystem Lead supports the Regional Director in the development, impact and sustainability of the ecosystem partnership, as well as the Innovation and Education activities of ecosystem partners within designated parts of the regional geography. This position is focused primarily on the advancement of EIT Digital’s position within Germany, a major digital economy which is the third largest in Europe.

The role includes supporting the recruitment, retention, engagement of EIT Digital partners and interaction with national and regional innovation authorities to develop and extend the ecosystem and to strengthen EIT Digital’s financial footprint. The Ecosystem Lead supports ecosystem partners, EIT Digital events, monitor and ensures operational excellence of innovation and education activities.

The Ecosystem Lead reports to Regional Director for Region West.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the overall development of EIT Digital’s ecosystem in the DACH regions as follows:
    • through the engagement of innovation actors to participate jointly with EIT Digital in the preparation and submission of successful proposals to secure funding from major EU innovation funds,
    • through participation in the delivery of non-EIT innovation programmes at a level defined by the Regional Director,
    • through the retention and acquisition of EIT Digital Partners with the DACH geography,
    • through the engagement of startups from DACH in EIT Digital’s Open Innovation Factory calls;
  • Lead the operational aspects of EIT Digital’s Open Innovation Factory actions which are centred in the DACH region in close collaboration with the Regional Director and the EIT Digital Innovation Leads;
  • Devise and support EIT Digital events;
  • Supervise and execute administrative, financial reporting, and logistical processes.
  • Participate in the delivery of non-EIT innovation programmes with a time allocation of c. 25%.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience and understanding of the German digital innovation sector, which encompasses key technology enablers, innovation agencies of all kinds including universities, accelerators public funding agencies and venture capital providers.
  • Academic background (MSc level) in STEM, preferably digital technology.
  • 5+ years’ experience in operational management role in R&D or innovation organisation.


Fluent in German and English with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
