The Acceleration and Growth business unit of EIT Digital is a pan-European team responsible for supporting entrepreneurs, startups and scaleups with training, mentoring, market access, matchmaking, funding and fundraising. They also manage and support the startup equity portfolio of EIT Digital, increasing their value and making sure they are successful in their entrepreneurial journey.

The Role

The Ecosystem Lead is responsible for the development, impact and sustainability of the ecosystem partnerships, as well as the advancement of EIT Digital’s Innovation and Education activities within Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The role includes the recruitment, retention, and engagement of EIT Digital’s partnerships with startups, scaleups, accelerators and universities, and the development of long-term strategic relationships with national and regional innovation authorities to develop and extend the ecosystem and to advance EIT Digital’s key financial objectives.

The Ecosystem Lead reports to Regional Director for Region West.

Main Responsibilities

  • The overall growth and development of EIT Digital’s ecosystem in the DACH countries as follows:
    • The engagement of innovation actors to participate jointly with EIT Digital in the preparation and submission of successful proposals to secure funding from major EU innovation funds;
    • The retention and acquisition of EIT Digital Partners with the DACH geography;
    • The engagement of startups from DACH in EIT Digital’s Open Innovation Factory calls.
  • The operational support of EIT Digital’s Open Innovation Factory actions which are centred in the DACH region in close collaboration with EIT Digital Innovation Leads.
  • The shaping and support of high-quality EIT Digital events to engage and activate innovation actors from the DACH region.
  • The supervision and delivery of administrative and financial reporting which pertain to the DACH region.
  • Direct participation in the delivery of grant income generating projects being performed by the region on behalf of EU/National innovation funds at a level of up to 50% of available working time.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience and understanding of the DACH innovation sector, which encompasses key technology enablers, innovation agencies of all kinds including universities, accelerators public funding agencies and venture capital providers.
  • Academic background (MSc level) in STEM, preferably digital technology.
  • 5+ years’ experience in commercial and relationship management roles within innovation organisations focused on the digital sector.

Languages

Fluent in German and English with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.

Fluency in Dutch or French is also valuable but not essential.

Place of employment

Hybrid working based at EIT Digital’s office in Berlin.
