He significantly influenced the development of the ICT industry in Germany and also international. He was acting as one of the spokesman of the Felderfinger Kreis and is a member of the Board of trustees of the Fraunhofer Institutes IGD. He holds an honorary professorship at the TU Munich.
At Siemens AG he took part in many different developments of important innovations in industry and science. Examples are the development of compilers , software engineering and CAD applications for electronic systems. He also always focuses on intense exchanges between industry and academia.
Professor Dr. Raffler succeeds Peter Möckel, who left Deutsche Telekom im March 2011.
