Maurizio Gabbrielli gave a talk at ENGRES 2014

Maurizio Gabbrielli, Director of the EIT ICT Labs Doctoral School, was invited to give a talk at the Marie Slodowska-Curie Actions 2014 Conference on The Empowerment of the Next Generation of Researchers “Promoting talents, spreading excellence” (ENGRES 2014) that took place in Trento from 18 to 19 November 2014.

His talk was about the EIT ICT Labs education strategy, focusing in particular on the Doctoral School and its relations with other initiatives such as the European Industrial Ph.D. programme.

ENGRES 2014 was organised by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) in collaboration with the Autonomous Province of Trento, under the patronage of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The aim of ENGRES 2014 conference was to discuss and reflect on how programmes for researcher training, recruitment and career development empower the next generation of researchers to be successful, no matter how society and the economy evolve.

The objective was to promote common initiatives and to share best practices that ensure excellent and innovative research training as well as attractive career and knowledge-exchange opportunities through cross-border and cross-sector mobility of researchers.

The conference focused on the roles of policy-makers, funders and businesses contributing to research training, working together with universities and research institutions.

Among the speakers of the conference were Ugo Rossi, President of Autonomous Province of Trento, Stefania Giannini, Italian Minister for Education, University and Research, Xavier Prats Monnè, Director-General for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport at the European Commission, Luigi Berlinguer, former Italian Minister for Education, University and Research and member of the European Parlament.

Large audience from accross Europe attented the event.
