EIT Digital presented innovative business solutions ensuring privacy, security, and trust in cyberspace at Black Hat Europe 2015, a major event dedicated to cyber security that took place in Amsterdam, November 10-13, attended by about 1500 information security professionals from all over the world, including some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Information technologies have invaded many aspects of people’s daily lives, creating new exciting possibilities, but also raising concerns in terms of privacy and trust. Protecting the privacy of individuals in the Information Age is very challenging as they constantly leave digital traces of their lives and habits, often without even being aware of that. Also, the increasing adoption of digital devices and services requires users’ trust both in the technology and the entities involved in the process. This trust is seriously threatened by growing cyber attacks, which need to be addressed both reactively and proactively.

Innovative solutions to tackle cyber privacy and cyber security challenges were presented by the Privacy, Security and Trust and Future Cloud action lines of EIT Digital. Selected industrial partners contributing to the innovation activities, including F-Secure and Communication Valley Reply, as well as a number of coached start-ups were present at the booth of EIT Digital at Black Hat Europe.

The European Trusted Cloud solutions and services to gain greater control over sensitive and personal data were presented by the Future Cloud action line. This initiative aims at building European trustworthy solutions for storing digital data and contents, so that customers and businesses in Europe do not have to worry about where and by whom their valuable digital assets are handled. Customers can define who will see data and how it is managed. Their data are secured by leading European experts in the industry. The outcome will be a continuously expanding ecosystem of players sharing a common goal of including security and privacy as part of the value promise to their customers. At Black Hat Europe, there were presented the existing innovations developed and also the business opportunities offered by the Trusted Cloud ecosystem organizations in the security and privacy services.

Innovations and business community were presented by the Privacy, Security and Trust action line with objective to find businesses and customers interested in buying products and services, to attract new partners potentially interested in cooperation with or within EIT Digital in the area of privacy and security, and also to raise the awareness about the problems and solutions in this area of ever-increasing interest. At the event, there were presented services and products for mobile security, cyber defence, cyber privacy, digital identity management, and secure crowdsourcing services.
