On 26 April, four PhD students of the Doctoral School will present their research findings on Digital Industry in the EIT Digital Doctoral Training Centre in Helsinki. Also, Tomi Kankainen, CDO & Vice president Digital Business Unit of Fastems will speech on Fastems industry viewpoint on digital industry.

The setup of the meetup promises to be inspiring for fellow students in the field of digital industry and anyone else who is interested in digital innovations and want to know 'What is going on right now?'.

Research findings

In slots of 30 packed minutes, the four PhD students, working at industry assignments from WIPSEA from France, ICEYE, Futurice and VXT Research from Finland, will present their research to their fellow researchers on digital industry across Europa and answer questions from the audience. In this way researchers have knowledge of each other’s findings and to gain insight in the vision on the future of the industry itself. For this matter, Tomi Kankainen, CDO & VP Digital Business Unit, Fastems will be talking about Manufacturing at Crossroads.

Join the meetup

The entire meetup can be watched from anyplace in the world. There will be a live connection for those who are either invited are have requested an invite to visit online. Also, each presentation will be live broadcasted on the EIT Digital Academy Facebook page.

The meetup is meant for all PhD students in the EIT Digital Doctoral School and EIT Digital industry partners. The meetups are open to external participants as well. Next meet up

The Helsinki meetup is the fourth in a series of industrial doctorates meetups in Europe. The next meeting will be in on 29 May in Madrid on Digital Infrastructure, followed up by a meetup in Milan on 13 June, again on Digital Industry.

Industrial doctorate

The PhD programmes of the EIT Digital Doctoral School focus since 2016 primarily on industrial doctorates. Within an Industrial Doctorate, PhD students work under academic supervision on research assignments from industry and benefit from continuous tutoring from this industry.
