Idea Challenge: Internet of Things winners awarded

The winners Sensefinity, Tractive and TeepTrak

The Idea Challenge finalists in the category "Internet of Things"

Silver went to the pet lovers from Tractive

The Portuguese start-up Sensefinity wins Idea Challenge Gold in Kista, Stockholm in the category Internet of Things. Sensefinity connects the physical world with the user’s IT, creating the Internet of Things (IoT). Via their simple to use, inexpensive sensor-platform and scalable cloud-platform, they can find fast and easy ways to integrate machine-data into today's IT systems to uncover hidden value.

The second prize goes to Tractive from Austria, a must-have for pet lovers. It is a gps-based pet tracking solution that allows pet owners to locate a pet at any time, anywhere. If the beloved pet leaves a predefined area, the user gets notified immediately. Furthermore the Tractive apps will integrate with social media to allow users to see their friends’ pets, share their pet photos and other pet related information.

The French start-up TeepTrak receives the third prize for their real-time performance tracking system. It contains of a set of effective tools to track the performance from anywhere in the world.

The winning teams will not only receive a cash prize but also get access to EIT Digital’s pan-European innovation network and will benefit international growth support through the EIT Digital Accelerator.

The Idea Challenge was combined with the Stockholm Innovation Days that showcased the latest innovation activities of EIT Digital in the field oft the Internet of Things. Highlights included standout keynotes by Alberto Torrón (Telefónica), Demed L´her (SAP) and an interactive exhibition area.

The three winners in of the Idea Challenge in the category Internet of Things are:

First place 40,000 €: Sensefinity

Sensifinity is a focused SaaS, out-of-the-box Hardware and configuration-less communications to guarantee food and vaccine safety.

Second Place 25,000 €: Tractive GmbH

Tractive is an award-winning ecosystem for pet owners and pet lovers. Tractive designs, develops and creates pet wearables and apps in the pet space to help and assist pet owners.

Third Place 15,000 €: TeepTrak

Internet of Things for industries: TeepTrak is a set of cost effective tools to monitor production effectiveness in real-time and improve in a fast and sustainable way.
