Among a strong set of applications from researchers, students and employees at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm,  the winner of the Idea Competition ICT 2013 organized by KTH Innovation in collaboration with EIT ICT Labs was announced on June 5, 2013. 

The winner is Shahrouz Yousefi and his supervisor Haibo Li who are the developers of G-phone. G stands for Gesture and the idea is to move from 2D touchscreen with its limitations to 3D space for intuitive and natural interaction.

Shahrouz Yousefi, a PhD candidate at the department of Media Technology and Interaction Design (MID), School of Computer Science and Communication at KTH, was very happy to win the competition according to Håkan Borg, business coach at KTH Innovation who had the first contact and discussion on how to spend the prize money of 100 000 SEK ( approx 11 630 Euro). 

We will start with implementation, prototyping and a patent application to protect our technology, said  Shahrouz Yousefi who will now continue to develop G-phone’s business strategy and laughed about the lack of vacation.
