On November 5th 2012 the first European BPM Round Table took place at the venue of EIT ICT Labs partner TU/e in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Researchers and practitioners met and discussed the latest trends in European Business Process Management. The meeting was very successful with 115 attendants, mostly from industry.
Various round tables spread over Europe are successfully connecting universities, software vendors, consultants, and end-users. However, there is a clear need to lift this to the European level. EIT ICT Labs is supporting the integration of successful national BPM round tables into a single European BPM round table, where experiences are exchanged, knowledge transferred, and new initiatives initiated at the European level. The presentations on November 5th reported on successfully transferring state-of-the-art BPM research results to practical applications. Moreover, the BPM community discussed urgent challenges for the BPM field.
Opportunity to turn BPM research into economic activity
Europe is leading in BPM research as can be seen at the main conferences in the field and the impact of the research in terms of citations. BPM researchers are among the most cited computers scientists in the world. The BPM round tables address this opportunity to turn these research results into new economic activity.
