Budapest, 15 October 2019 – Earlier today, EIT Digital CEO Willem Jonker and Hungarian Minister for Innovation & Technology László Palkovics signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the joint support for the successful digital transformation of Hungary’s industry.

Both parties agreed to focus on driving the digital transformation of Hungarian industries – commonly referred to as Industry 4.0 – in sectors of national importance, such as food, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and some dominant use cases in 5G technologies. The actions will include technology transfer, startup creation, enhancement of digital skills through specific workforce education and training programs as well as the support of Hungarian scaleup companies in the digital industry domain.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on occasion of INNOVEIT 2019, the EIT’s annual event, bringing together entrepreneurs, representatives of higher education and research, EU, national and regional policy makers, as well as EIT graduates and key innovation actors. On the same occasion, also the European Institute of Innovation & Technology signed an MoU with the Hungarian Ministry for Innovation and Technology on future enhanced collaboration.
