Cyber-security is not a theory, but a real matter to be faced in everyday life.

Cyber Security as well as issues related to Privacy, Security and Trust are often left aside by entrepreneurs and startuppers. But a trouble related to this matters in the first phases of a startup development could have crushing effects, up to the complete failure of the business idea. The aim of this meeting is to provide warnings and best practices, suggestions and guidelines to correctly approach Cyber-security as an added value of any ICT business idea from both, technical and market, point of view.

Startuppers, EIT ICT Labs Master School students, cyber-security companies, and university professors: this was the audience of the seminar "Cyber Security approach for startups" organized by Trento Node at the Contamination Lab of TechPeks Program on May 21st.

Moderated by Business Developer Marco Senigalliesi, the audience listened to the keynote of Jovan Golic, Action Line Leader of Privacy Security and Trust, who outlined the basic concepts and latest trends in cybersecurity. Daniele Vitali from EIT ICT Labs partner Reply talked about the impact of cyber attacks on public and private companies and organisations. Davide Varesano from company eMaze presented how to approach a risk analysis and a remediation/mitigation strategy.

All the talks were rich of examples and real life cases. That stimulated an intensive debate with the audience.

The seminar gave even the opportunity to present and promote the Idea-Challenge and the Cyber Security topic that will be launched on September 1st.

During the closing and networking session of the event, news articles were published that the worldwide most famous online-auction website was attacked exactly during the seminar. This confirmed that cyber security is not just a theory!
