EIT Digital, Europe’s leading digital innovation organisation, mobilises ‘hackers’ around the world to join the DATA against COVID-19 online DeepHack on 1-3 May 2020 and develop data-driven digital solutions for epidemic and pandemic lifecycle management.

The DATA against COVID-19 online DeepHack is open for up to 15 teams of students, entrepreneurs, start-ups, scale-ups, SMEs and corporates. The DeepHack will take place online from 1 to 3 May and the deadline for applications is April 27, 2020, noon CET. Winning teams receive a total of € 15,000. They also might be considered for a follow-up activity for a period of 6 months with substantial financial support from EIT Digital to fully develop and deploy their solution.

COVID-19 will not be the last global pandemic and identifying better tools and methods to manage the lifecycle of pandemics is a primary concern of policy makers and industry leaders. Modern digital technology, like mobile phones, data analytics, AI and social media offer a unique set of tools to provide and analyse data, to model, communicate and influence behaviour and help manage pandemic lifecycles.

Participants to the DATA against COVID-19 online DeepHack will use data to develop scalable solutions with potential to alleviate the current global COVID-19 pandemic, help policymakers, health services and industry leaders manage the pandemic lifecycle and prevent future public health crises.

EIT Digital welcomes in particular solutions in the domains

  • Alert or monitoring systems using mobile DATA
  • Provision of information and DATA sharing relevant to COVID-19
  • Systematic DATA analysis in different regions, populations and age groups (allowing for more targeted responses)
  • Integration of epidemic and economic DATA to drive more accurate societal impact analysis
