What is Startup?

Startup is a hands-on training programme that helps you formulate and refine your business idea to ensure a great foundation for starting your own company. This new intense version of the programme consists of five workshops and is based on the Business Model Canvas, a strategic management template for developing business models. It is a popular tool that is used by entrepreneurs worldwide, for example in Silicon Valley.

The course combines theory with practical application. Experienced entrepreneurs and experts also provide inspiration and help you refine your idea. By developing your business model, you will be able to decide whether you are ready to launch or not. During a sixth workshop session, you will have the chance to present your business idea to an exclusive network of people who could prove valuable to you in the future. An award for the “Best Startup Project” will also be announced. The programme is offered free of charge. The only thing you need to invest is your time and commitment.

How is the program designed?

Sessions are held on Tuesday evenings 14 May-18 June 2013. Between meetings, STING’s experienced business coaches give assignments and provide some individual coaching. If you want to take your business idea further after the Startup course, you can apply to STING’s business accelerator.

Who can apply?

The programme is designed for individuals who have an innovative business idea with significant international growth potential. Scalability is an important factor. You should also have the drive needed to start a company based on your idea. We would prefer that your team consists of two to three people and includes both men and women. Ten projects will be accepted to the programme. The program is held in English. Therefore, it is important that you are comfortable expressing yourself in English during the discussions.
