The largest startup event in Sweden, STING Day, gathered representatives from 90 cutting edge tech companies in Sweden and Europe and 100 investors this year.  Networking with the investors and startup pitching in four categories – ICT, Medtech, Cleantech and Internet/Media was the main focus of the day.

The Internet / Media category was won by Volumental who also received the overall prize as Rookie of the Year in the evening STING Day award ceremony.  This up-and-coming startup incubated first by KTH Innovation, as it is based on a research project at KTH, and since a few months back coached by STING and business developer Peo Nilsson, is also one of EIT ICT Labs candidates for the EIT Entrepreneurship Award in November 2013.

Volumental offers an online service that makes it possible to share 3D models of real-world people, objects and rooms through the world's first cloud-based 3D scanner.

-It was fantastic to take part in the STING Day, said a very happy CEO, Caroline Walerud. It was really fun to be on stage and deliver the pitches and to get feedback on what we do. We have not met with so many investors prior to this and we received a lot of interest and confirmation that we have a good business idea. And it was also very useful to meet with so many other startups and share experiences and advice.

-The coaching from ICT Labs business developers has been helpful in figuring out our strategy and gaining access to funding. Furthermore, we hope the ICT Labs network will be valuable in building relationships with potential customers, partners and employees, said Caroline Walerud some weeks ago at the EIT ICT Labs Partner Event.
