Huawei partners up with EIT Digital to support Master School students

Huawei, leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, and EIT Digital announce their collaboration to promote the sponsor programme of the EIT Digital Master School. Within the partnership, Huawei provides economic commitment of up to €120,000 to finance up to 6 scholarships, worth €20,000 each, for students in the Cybersecurity programme of the EIT Digital Master School. This scholarship includes full coverage of two university fees of the EIT Digital Master School and a living allowance during the students’ studies.

The partnership comes from the encounter of the two institutions’ missions and has been officially formalized at the Huawei Cyber Security and Transparency Center (HCSTC) in Brussels. Opened in 2019, HCSTC is a platform for government agencies, technical experts, industry associations, and standards organizations to further communicate and collaborate in order to balance out security and development in the digital era. Recently, HCSTC announced the expansion of its Cyber Security Skills Bridge (CSSB) program, providing unique cyber hands-on and practical learning opportunities to students across Europe. With this new partnership, Huawei reinforces its conviction that EIT Digital is the right partner to support ambitious skills development.

Evence Su, Director of HCSTC pointed out “By bridging the gap between the needs of industry and the supply of skilled professionals by strong partners like the EIT Digital Master School, Huawei strongly believe that, together, we will deliver more technical and skilful talent, facilitating a virtuous cycle and supporting the sustainable development of the ICT industry.”

The EIT Digital Master School is a European network of 18 top technical universities that, since 2012, combines technical education on emerging technologies with entrepreneurial education. Students learn to turn deep tech into business in a two-year programme at two universities. Upon successful completion, they receive two Masters' degrees, plus a certificate from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). There are seven programmes to choose from. These are Autonomous Systems, Cloud and Network Infrastructures, Data Science, Cyber Security, Embedded Systems, Fintech, and Human Computer Interaction and Design.

Following the successful pilot with Italian Fondazione CDP in 2021/22, Huawei is the second partner to sponsor scholarships for EIT Digital Master School students. EIT Digital invites more organisations or companies in Europe to follow this example and allow other students the opportunity to study at this unique double degreed masters. “Turning global talent into tomorrow's digital innovators and entrepreneurs is a joint effort of companies, organisations and governments. We are therefore very pleased that Huawei has joined up in this partnership. This way we can offer even more eligible students to study at the double degree EIT Digital Master School”, says Federico Menna, Interim CEO at EIT Digital.”
