EIC - EIT Digital Venture Acceleration Programme: EIT Digital announces the 10 winners that will receive scaleup support

EIT Digital and the European Innovation Council (EIC) have launched a year-long collaboration pilot aimed at creating new synergies between the two organisations, enabling their supported startups, scaleups, and teams to benefit from each other’s programmes, services, and support activities.

A key component of this pilot is the EIC and EIT Digital Venture Acceleration Programme, an exciting new opportunity for EIC Accelerator companies and Seal-of-Excellence holders to be supported by EIT Digital. EIT Digital has selected the 10 deep tech companies that will be part of this programme. These selected scaleups have been granted free access to the 12-month EIT Digital Accelerator Programme worth €50,000. As such, the EIT Digital Accelerator team will provide them dedicated international services in both Access to Finance and Access to Market areas.

The 10 winners were selected from a pool of over 97 outstanding EIC beneficiaries and seal of excellence holders that applied. These applicants hail from across the Horizon 2020 associated countries and are advancing technologies across the spectrum of EIT Digital’s thematic areas, namely Digital Tech, Digital Cities, Digital Industry, Digital Wellbeing and Digital Finance.

The 10 awardees are: Activity Stream (Denmark), Atlant 3D (Denmark), ExactCure (France), FutureOn (Norway), GrayMatters Health (Israel), Mitiga (Spain), RoBoTEC (Germany), ScanTrust (Switzerland), Sensoneo (Slovakia), and Velco (France).

Activity Stream (Denmark)

Activity Stream enables organisations to effectively plan and market their experiences and build long lasting relationships with customers in a fully data driven manner. This can be achieved without the need for specialised IT infrastructure, without involving an IT department and without a highly specialised marketing team. Activity Stream provides "canned" data science to their clients for advanced analytics, segmentations, automations, pattern detection and deep-leaning predictions.

Atlant 3D (Denmark)

Atlant 3D has invented a paradigm-shifting technology platform where new advanced materials and electronics can be manufactured in a very flexible, digital, cost-efficient process and create decentralised infrastructures that will create the next level of rapid innovation with atomic precision. The platform is an intelligent autonomous advanced manufacturing platform, with the possibility to substitute multiple processes such as surface cleaning, deposition, etching, and 3D structure growth, which are critical for any electronics device development.

ExactCure (France)

Lack of personalisation contributes to 36% of medication errors, a cause of under-doses, overdoses, harmful drug-to-drug interactions, amounting to cost to health insurers of $1000B. Based on population pharmacokinetics and by aggregating scientific literature with meta-analysis techniques, ExactCure aims to give access to personalised medication to everyone. Their Digital Twin product simulates the effectiveness and interactions of drugs in the body to avoid underdoses, overdoses and drug-drug interactions, to realise cost savings for pharma developers, health providers and insurers.

FutureOn (Norway)

FieldTwin by FutureOn is the first centralised data platform for efficient and collaborative development of offshore energy projects. FieldTwin is a digital working environment for planning, installing, operating and abandoning energy fields. Assets are integrated with external data sources and smart analytic tools creating smart digital fields. Collaboration occurs in real-time, in a visually relevant context, and based on real data. The benefits include reduced costs, accelerated timelines and lowered risk of communications and planning errors.

GrayMatters Health (Israel)

Prism by GrayMatters Health is used by mental health professionals to enhance standard of care clinical outcomes. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data of specific deep brain regions and their proprietary electroencephalography (EEG)-fMRI machine learning model, Prism delivers EEG neurofeedback to train patients to gain control over biomarkers associated with their mental disorder. Targeting the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) market, where less than 50% of patients show improvement with drug treatment, Prism provides a simple to operate user interface with low operational costs and training time.

Mitiga (Spain)

Changes in the global climate observed in the past decades (e.g., extreme temperatures, intensity and frequency of precipitation and more intense and longer droughts) also shape the risk associated with hazardous events, implying a higher chance of interactions occurring over short time frames and more overlapping and consecutive disasters. Mitiga has developed a transactional science-based (artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, high performance computing, blockchain, natural language processing, etc.) insurtech platform to forecast and mitigate the impact of natural hazards.

RoBoTEC (Germany)

RoBoCut is revolutionising vegetative plant propagation by enabling automated and autonomous plantlet production at industrial scale. A unique value proposition for an industry that has so far relied on manual plant production methods. They develop automation technologies/robotics combined with 3D image recognition and lasers, for a sterile and precise cut of delicate plant tissue, as well as strong AI and Deep Learning Algorithms for independent robot decision-making in plant cutting.

As Stephan von Rundstedt of RoBoTEC put it, “We’re thrilled to have been selected to join the EIT Digital Accelerator. We’re looking forward to a very fruitful collaboration.”

ScanTrust (Switzerland)

Using the most advanced technologies, ScanTrust’s platform generates a unique and secure QR code for each product – its digital identity embedded in packaging. This digital identity is stored in a cloud-based platform and can be used for a variety of use cases (supply chain traceability, customer engagement, anti-counterfeiting, analytics). Scantrust allows brands to build a digital touchpoint with end users, track products in their supply chain and fight counterfeits by integrating a unique and secure QR code on product packaging.

Sensoneo (Slovakia)

Sensoneo is a global enterprise-grade smart waste management solutions provider that enables cities and businesses to manage their waste efficiently, lower their environmental footprint and improve the quality of services. Through its unique smart waste management technology, Sensoneo is redefining the way waste is managed. The solution combines in-house produced Smart Sensors that monitor waste in real-time with advanced tracking equipment and sophisticated software providing cities and businesses with digital transformation, automation of critical daily operations and data-driven decision making which results in transparent waste streams, optimisation of waste collection routes, frequencies, and vehicle loads, and the ability to easily introduce incentive programmes motivating for less waste production.

Co-Founder & CEO Martin Basila notes, “we are excited to have won a spot in the EIT Digital Accelerator and to be one of the top 10 companies in the region selected to receive the support of EIT Digital’s access to finance experts. [Sensoneo] are currently in the stage of an investment round, and we can certainly make excellent use of the expertise of the EIT finance experts.”

Velco (France)

Velco’s mission is to transform urban mobility for sustainable development. They promote sustainable transportation through connectivity. Velco provides connected solutions for electric bikes. Through connectivity, they enhance the end-user mobility experience and increase the performance and margins of mobility professionals (bike manufacturers and fleet managers).
