Zucchetti announces an important agreement to expand its reference markets: the leading Italian software company, with more than 386 million Euro of turnover in 2015 and more than 105,000 active clients, has signed an agreement to acquire a majority share in FABtotum, a Milan company specialized in 3D printing, milling and digitalization of objects.
With this acquisition FABtotum, a startup previously incubated by Polihub, the Politecnico di Milano incubator, and supported in Europe by EIT Digital Accelerator, aims at commercial grow and market expansion, while Zucchetti is entering a rapidly expanding sector with several requests from overseas.
"For us this is a great business opportunity for the market expansion - states Marco Rizzuto, co-founder and C.E.O. of FABtotum - FABtotum Personal Fabricator is an innovation that goes way beyond simple 3D printing. With the same device the most varied objects can be made from different materials. The milling and engraving functions can be used on wood, foams and aluminium or copper sheets. The system is modular, therefore, as soon as any new technology is available, it can be updated and integrated with a new module."
Alessandro Zucchetti, President of Zucchetti, also sees development possibilities in the agreement: "With this investment, the aim is to continue our international growth. FABtotum, in fact, already has clients in 64 countries. 3D printing is definitely the most emerging sector and with FABtotum we are increasing our offer to the overseas market. Finally, I must underline the values that we share with this new entry into our group - continuous technological innovation is the core of Zucchetti’s corporate philosophy."
The agreement with the Zucchetti Group was facilitated by EIT Digital. "We have believed in FABtotum project since 2014, due to its technological uniqueness in responding to the emerging 3D printing market with a multi-functional product - explains Paolo Magni, business developer for EIT Digital in Italy. Our efforts have been concentrated in identifying national and international growth opportunities for this company. Zucchetti, the leading Italian software group, is the most suitable partner for developing FABtotum’s industrial potential and multiplying its commercial penetration in countries such as Germany and the USA, where Zucchetti is already present. We can now state that FABtotum has moved from being a promising startup to being an Italian and European success, that can continue to develop and grow thanks to this agreement."
Zucchetti and FABtotum are two examples of Made in Italy innovation that, working together, can achieve excellence in the digital manufacturing market, both in Italy and overseas.
