The French Trade Commission/Ubifrance, in cooperation with Kista Science City, EIT ICT Labs and Vinnova, organised a partnership event to explore R&D collaboration opportunities between Swedish and French companies and clusters on the theme "ICT for Smarter Cities" in mid-May.

A group of 14 innovative French SMEs, large groups and ICT clusters, toured the Nordics for a week with visits to Estonia, Finland and Sweden. The aim was matchmaking of companies, clusters, research centres and cities in order to share experiences and to identify possible collaboration for future technological partnerships, business and R&D-projects, for example within the EUREKA/ Eurostars Programme.

In Stockholm the event focused on innovation and technologies associated to ICT for Smarter Cities: intelligent transports, smart services for cities and public sector, big data/cloud computing, e-Tourism, e-Health, e-Government, mobility, M2M and the Internet of Things.

The Stockholm CLC hosted the event which started with presentations of Kista Science City and an overview of smart city projects in Sweden, especially the Stockholm Royal Seaport Innovation project. Funding opportunities for French-Swedish collaboration followed presented by Vinnova and BPIFrance with information about Eurostars.

Presentations of Smart city projects in France followed and presentation pitches by French and Swedish participants. A networking lunch and pre-booked individual one-to-one meetings took place all over the CLC throughout the afternoon and the setup was very successful. One outcome was a followup visit by Swedish Clusterland to SCS – Secured Communicating Solutions in Sophia Antipolis and an agreement for further collaborations.
