Idea Challenge

Keynote speeches and networking at the demo area followed by the final of the EIT Digital Idea Challenge in the category Smart Spaces.

Finalists were competing for the attractive prize set combining money and services: the company that won the first place get 40,000€, the second 25,000€ and third 15,000€ – as well as help from EIT Digital e.g. access to the international network and growth support.

The ten finalist pitches were assessed by the expert jury on these parameters: Idea, Team, Growth potential and Impact of the prize.  Since every start-up had an interesting and unique idea, the jury had a huge challenge to pick the three winners of the contest.  Finally, the decision was made – and the 3 winners were selected: Ekin Labs | Hi WiFi (1st), Sorry as a Service (2nd) and PopPlaces (3rd).

All three winners were awarded for their approach to real world problems: Hi Wifi has a solution that addresses the challenge in security by detecting human presence and motion while Sorry as a Service offers a unique customer retention service and Pop Places provides a marketplace for small businesses in search of commercial space.
