EIT Digital Master School Graduation Ceremony 2015

More than 100 students from across the globe are gathering in Budapest today (November 27) at the EIT Digital Master School graduation ceremony, hosted by Eötvös Lorand University (ELTE) - an EIT Digital Master School partner. This is the second cohort of Master School graduates, bringing the total to 153.

This event is the final step in a two-year programme during which students study at their choice of two universities selected from 20 leading European institutions in nine countries. Students participate in cutting-edge ICT excellence training in combination with innovation and entrepreneurship, and receive a double degree and an EIT-labelled Certificate on completion. Since the launch of the programme there has been steady growth in the number of students; in four years the number of students enrolling has tripled.

Keynote speaker, Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, commented:

"The digital sector continues to grow, and we need more and more highly motivated graduates with the right skills - the EIT Digital’s Master School is a great example of a pan-European educational programme that prepares students for this highly competitive global market."

Willem Jonker, EIT Digital CEO commented; "Demand for our Master School graduates is high, demonstrating the need for programmes delivering so-called T-shaped graduates: rigour in digital technology combined with business savviness and entrepreneurial spirit. We’re very proud of helping to create the next generation of entrepreneurs to support Europe’s position as a leader in digital innovation. Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates - we’re excited to see what their next steps will be."

Prof. László Palkovics, Secretary of State for Higher Education, Hungary will also attend the ceremony.

The main application period for EIT Digital Master School is from November 17, 2015 to February 15, 2016. For EU/EEA citizens it will also be possible to apply for the programme from April 1 to May 1, 2016. Further details about the courses can be found at www.materschool.eitdigital.eu

Master School 2014 graduate Frederick Ayala Gómez is from Mexico but currently staying in Budapest and studied at Technical University in Eindhoven (NL) and ELTE (Hungary) during his Masters. He is the secretary of the EIT Digital Alumni. He said of the programme:

"I found EIT Digital Master School when I was in Mexico looking for a technological Master degree in Europe. The programme was interesting for me because of the mix of computer science, entrepreneurship and innovation. I am working on my second start up called ioa.mx where we help our clients to retain their customers and find leads from the web. I enjoyed the professional network at the EIT Digital. I highly recommend this programme for those who have an innovation and entrepreneurship spirit because the EIT Digital has a strong I&E community."
