On February 12, the EIT ICT Labs Business Community for the Innovation Area Privacy Security & Trust (PST) was launched in Milan, Italy. Dr. Udo Bub, Node Director of EIT ICT Labs Germany, welcomed the participants from all over Europe. Two keynotes from Paolo Palumbo, F-Secure and Dr. John Fichtner, Siemens, gave interesting insights into the challenges the companies currently face. Palumbo showed an extract of the Malware Analysis Report that summarized some of the most dangerous threats of the past years. Dr. Fichtner explained how Siemens manages IT Security on international level.

It is the goal of the Business Community to provide a match & deal-making platform on a European level, in particular for the EIT ICT Labs innovation activities and High Impact Initiatives (HII) as well as coached startups. The main activities of the PST Business Community are

  • Support the building of strategic alliances and share knowledge
  • Offering face2face and online networking and peer-to-peer learning opportunities
  • Providing access to partners, customers and investors
  • Match-making start-ups with AL activities, PST stakeholders and EIT ICT Labs partners
  • Publicly promoting European PST innovation and start-ups

After the keynote speeches EIT ICT Labs coached startups and other innovative founders presented their ideas and growth plans: 1) Chino 2) QKEY 3) Sentryo 4) Cryptobrand 5) Remplex 6) Kopjira 7) Security Matters. Chino won the EIT ICT Labs Idea Challenge in the category of Cyber Security and Privacy. Sentryo, Cryptobrand and Remplex were also finalists. The award includes a cash prize of 40,000 Euro and access to the EIT ICT Labs Partner network.
