EIT Digital Accelerator Alumnus Kaiku Health, a Finnish digital wellbeing company, providing intelligent patient monitoring software for healthcare providers across Europe, has closed a €4.4 million funding round.

Kaiku Health will use the funding to power its international expansion and further develop its digital therapeutics pipeline. Together with its partners, Kaiku Health will conduct several clinical trials validating the digital therapeutics offering.

"We have seen the significant positive impact our patient monitoring platform can have on people's health", comments Lauri Sippola, Kaiku Health CEO and Co-Founder. "This funding allows us to provide our platform to a growing number of healthcare providers and patients internationally."

Dolf Wittkamper, the head of the EIT Digital Accelerator program said:

"Kaiku Health is a splendid digital wellbeing company helping to evaluate the effectiveness of therapies as well as to detect and treat health problems early thanks to analysis of patient-reported data. EIT Digital was excited about their innovative intelligent patient monitoring software for the healthcare providers from our first meeting with the company, and we have had the pleasure to support their team in their international scale-up process".

Today, the Kaiku Health platform is used in routine care by over 30 clinics in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Finland, and has been used by 64,000 patients (March 2018).

The EIT Digital Accelerator scaleup program supports European digital ventures to scale up their business in Europe and beyond with a goal to accelerate the growth of promising digital technology startups and scaleups by helping them secure target customers and raise capital.

In addition, Kaiku Health was a finalist in the 2017 EIT Digital Challenge contest, in the Digital Wellbeing category. The contest aims to detect the best deep digital technology (or deep tech) scaleups that promise to improve the life of Europe's citizens and strengthen the economy.
