Idea Challenge winners for Cyber Security & Privacy

From 479 teams across the EU that applied for the Idea Challenge in autumn, 67 ideas addressed the topic of Cyber Security & Privacy.

On November 13th, the best 10 startup in this category were invited to present their ideas at the pitch final event organised by EIT ICT Labs and its partner Trento RISE. The event took place at the Trento Co-Location Centre. 

The jury was composed by Jovan Golic (Action Line Leader of PST, EIT ICT Labs) Wolfgang Kniejski & Bram Spitzer (Business Developers, EIT ICT Labs) Daniele Vitali (Senior Manager, Reply), Lucia Marchisio (Open Innovation Telecom Italia), Jeanne Pirttilahti (F-Secure Corporation), Dennis Moynihan (London Node Director).

The winners in the category Cyber Security & Privacy:

  • 1st place, 40,000 €: CHINO - from Italy - provides safe and regulatory compliant data storage for mobile health applications, giving to application developers the opportunity to focus on users' needs.
  • 2nd place, 25,000 €: Cleafy - from Italy - defends and certifies web-page source-code integrity in real time.
  • 3rd place, 15,000 €: Sentryo - from France - protects critical industrial networks against cyber attacks and provides network managers with full awareness over the situation.

"Overall, we were really happy to see the quality of the applications: it was not easy task to select only 10 finalists and 3 winners. There is a lot of business potential in the Privacy, security and Trust area, and thanks to the Idea Challenge contest and prizes we are able to support and help businesses in this sector to grow" - stated Jovan Golic, Action Line Leader for Privacy Security and Trust.

The winner teams receive a combined price money of 80,000 Euros, the opportunity to join Europe’s top innovation network, office space for six months, and coaching by EIT ICT Labs’ Business Development Accelerator.
