The EIT ICT Labs supported start-up Volumental was chosen as one of a few Swedish startups to demonstrate 3D scanning on the occasion of the State visit to Sweden by the President of Portugal His Excellency Professor Aníbal Cavaco Silva.  The President, joined by the First Lady Mrs Maria Cavaco Silva, His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf and her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden, visited Ericsson Studio where he got a first-hand experience on how Volumental brings 3D scanning to everyone.

Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg, who hosted the visit, volunteered to be scanned during the demonstration and Caroline Walerud, CEO Volumental, was thrilled at the opportunity.
“It was great pitching our 3D scanning solution before the President and First Lady of Portugal and the King and Queen of Sweden. They were all so interested and engaged discussing different areas of use, posing many questions about the benefits our solution could bring. It was great input to our work as we believe we have only scratched the surface of the potential use our solutions would have in the future”

Volumental is a spin-off from a research project called Kinect@Home at KTH and has been supported by KTH Innovation and STING as part of the EIT ICT Labs Business Development Accelerator Program. Volumental has gained lots of traction since the registration in December 2012.
“We are very happy about the positive attention that we have received and for the opportunity and invitation to present at such an important event. In addition to our own pitch we met with many interesting entrepreneurs and made great contacts for further development and collaboration” Caroline Walerud says.
