On 24-26 February retail technology companies supported by EIT ICT Labs showcased at EuroCIS fair – Europe’s leading retail technology fair - in Düsseldorf. The quality and number of leads the companies got was outstanding.

Over three trade fair days a total of more than 8.800 trade visitors from over 60 countries came to gather information from the 318 international exhibitors on the latest products, solutions and trends in retail IT. EIT ICT Labs stand was shared by Proxible from the Netherlands, Roidu and Zoined from Finland and Selitera from Sweden. The Finnish company Innorange participated in the fair with their own stand.

Our participation at EuroCIS trade show was again a success. The event gathered together the retail technology professionals and key business people in the retail sector. Our start-ups got many real quality leads. We also established connection with EHI Retail Institute, which includes international retail companies and their industry associations, manufacturers of consumer and capital goods, and various service providers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, “ commented Petri Liuha, Action Line Leader for Smart Spaces.

Smart Retail is one of the focus areas in EIT ICT Labs. The sector is in the midst of major changes, when new entrants from IT sector are changing the value network, and at the same time the consumer purchase behaviour is heavily influenced by e-commerce and higher expectations in shopping experience. “With our innovation activities we are introducing business models and product innovations that grasp the new opportunities in this change,“ explains Petri.

Quality leads on customers, resellers and partners

Selitera’s Semantic Light was considered one of the most innovative solutions presented at the fair. “One visitor representating a big global consumer electronics company told us that our solution was by far the best and most promising one he saw at EuroCIS”, said Zary Segall, CEO of Selitera.  With semantic light and connected web service the customer - by pointing their phone - gets more information on the product, can share it with friends and buy.

Selitera and Proxible were chosen to be part of the Guided Innovation Tours for visitors and media organized by Planet Retail. Proxible works among others with cities connecting physical places and objects to the online world. With their Eindhoven City app the visitor finds the best spots to hang out, to shop and find the best deals.

Zoined works in the area of retail analytics and was looking for resellers as well as customers at EuroCIS. “Zoined was very satisfied with the results of EuroCIS. We managed to exceed our target in number of leads from Central Europe in both potential reseller and customer wise. We will definitely be going there next year again and recommend it to all who are interested in Smart Retail,” explained Atte Roine, CEO of Zoined.

In 2014 Innorange was part of the EIT ICT Labs stand and the results from last year convinced Innorange to join the fair also this year, but with their own stand. "EuroCis 2015 provided Innorange a great opportunity to expand our international reach. According to our novel people counter solutions there were over 13 000 visitors walking by our stand daily. We continue negotiations with resellers from 8 countries that all are new market areas for us", said Samuli Silanto, Chair of the Board at Innorange.
