EIT ICT Labs incubated start-ups participated at “Le Web Paris”, the top-level European industry event on web technologies "Internet of Things" that took place on December 4th-6th in Paris. Attracting some 3,5 thousand participants from all over the world, “LeWeb Paris” brought together the most influential audience in the international Internet ecosystem; among them many leaders and influencers who are actually shaping the future of the internet. “LeWeb” is aimed at gathering together entrepreneurs, sponsors, venture capitalists, visionaries. Among the keynote speakers of the conference were Marko Ahtisaari, Executive Vice President, Design from Nokia and Kevin Systrom, Co-Founder & CEO, Instagram & MG Siegler and Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission.

EIT ICT Labs business Director Klaus Beetz, with the help of business developers decided to take part in the “LeWeb Paris” event to emphasize our top talent start-ups at this international conference. The participation of the start-ups was coordinated by Isabelle de Sutter, the business developer from Systematic Paris-Region.

For the start-ups (all incubated by EIT ICT Labs) this was a unique chance to present their products to private investors, global industries from the Internet domain as well as to visitors. At the same time start-ups were able to attend top-level conferences on Web technologies.

This year at “LeWeb Paris” the following EIT ICT Labs incubated start-ups were present: Quuppa from Finland, SpazioDati from Italy, Sowiso from the Netherlands, Panospective from Germany, White_C from Germany and Leankr from France and Degoo from Sweden. For them the peculiar added value in participating in such event is the opportunity of setting up networks and building for new business opportunities.

During the event the booth of the EIT ICT Labs has been visited by Fleur Pellerin, French Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises, Innovation and the Digital Economy, at the Ministry for Productive Renewal (the former Ministry of the Economy, Finance, and Industry) who followed with attention the presentation of White_C and asked many questions about the technology used.

Mehdi Moniri, from White-C, was explaining that his spin-off is active in three industries: Mobility, Out-of-Home Media, and Construction Industry. At “LeWeb”, White_C is presenting its competence in the Out-of-Home Media industry: «this conference has an important value as it helps to build contacts and find partners to develop its business with faster pace» Mehdi Moniri said.

Fabio Belloni, Chief Marketing Officer of Quuppa, stressed the importance of being at the “LeWeb”, as a great opportunity for meeting partners and future customers: «Here we are aiming at presenting our latest product offering, always seeking for partners ready to implement new technology solutions, products, and services exploiting the unique potential of the HAIP technology».

According to Pierre Roulph, from Leankr,«being at “LeWeb” is a great opportunity to meet some European operators and broadcasters». The French start-up creates innovative technologies to enable the best second screen and connected TV experience. It has developed the RedBox, a semantic search engine that understands live TV and delivers related content in real-time while you watch television.

Björn Bellensdorf from Panospective pointed out that “LeWeb” is also a possibility to «attend workshops and learn from highly qualified speakers». His Berlin based start-up has developed Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera. It allows users to take 360 degrees photos in an extremely intuitive and easy way.

Marc Habbema from Sowiso, a start-up dealing with e-learning, commented he felt «privileged to be present at “LeWeb” ». «From the start-up point of view based in the Netherlands the event is really top of the bill when it comes to internet» he said.

For the founder and CEO of SpazioDati, Michele Barbera, “LeWeb” was not only a possibility to network, but also a possibility to present the start-up to bloggers and media. SpazioDati is a start-up established at the beginning of 2012, offering data market and work at the crossroads between big data, semantic data and lined data.
