EIT Digital has named Spain’s Exipple Studio Artificial Intelligence platform 'Gestoos' as the best European technology scaleup in the field of Digital Industry. Second place went to ProGlove from Germany and their smart glove. Third place went to two scaleups: 3DTrust from France and Prodsmart from Portugal.

The Barcelona-based scaleup Exipple Studio has been awarded first place in the Digital Cities category of the EIT Digital Challenge. The competition and award ceremony took place as a side event at the renowned Slush conference in Helsinki, Finland.

Exipple Studio has developed ‘Gestoos’ - an Artificial Intelligence platform that detects people's behaviour and gestures using a machine learning mechanism. The technology allows users to create smart environments that understand human behaviour in specific contexts and enable gestural interactions with physical objects.

Second place went to ProGlove from Germany for their smart glove that combines wearable high-technology and the “Internet of Things” to make manual work in manufacturing and logistics more efficient.

For the first time, the jury awarded the third prize jointly to two teams: 3dTrust from France and Prodsmart from Portugal. 3dTrust enables companies to better integrate 3D printing into their operations by providing a digital network ensuring the protection of intellectual property and guaranteeing the traceability of the printed parts. Prodsmart is a real-time information system that analyses production lines and job shops in real-time and turns any production plant into a digital smart factory.

The EIT Digital Challenge aims to identify the next wave of Europe’s top scaleups - fast growing startups who are ready to scale-up their operations - to help them grow internationally and raise funding. The companies will receive access to EIT Digital’s pan-European innovation network and the chance to benefit from the business growth support provided by the EIT Digital Accelerator. As the category winner, Exipple Studio will additionally receive €50,000 in cash.
