Computable Awards 2018

The jury of the Computable Awards 2018, chaired by Patrick Essers, Director of EIT Digital's Dutch node, has chosen ten tech startups to go through to the final of the Dutch Startup of the Year award. The winner of the trophy will be announced at a spectacular show on 30 October in Utrecht.

The startup companies selected are Carapax IT, Expivi, Homerun, Hotelchamp, Ockel Computers, SD-Insights, Temper, Tryst Energy, Watermelon and Winq.

Patrick EssersThe startups were picked after the expert jury that Essers is chairing heard 20 pitches from preselected competitors on 1 June. In total, 105 startups entered the competition. The 12 jury members judged the pitches on several criteria, including business development, innovation, product development, financial prospects, teambuilding, market potential and societal relevance.

Voting

Public votes, together with a final verdict from the judges, will determine which of the ten finalists is crowned Startup of the Year. The voting process starts on 5 July and the winners will be revealed at a gala dinner on 30 October. Startup of the Year is one category of the Computable Awards 2018. EIT Digital Challenge

At the same time as this startup competition is taking place in the Netherlands, the EIT Digital Accelerator is hosting its own annual EIT Digital Challenge, looking for the best scaleups in Europe.   • Expivi helps businesses sell products in 3D with augmented and virtual reality.
  • Homerun provides all-in-one recruitment software (ATS) that combines vacancies with storytelling and marketing.
  • Hotelchamp has developed an algorithm to offer hotel guests a personalised experience to encourage repeat bookings.
  • Ockel Computers brings together mobile and desktop worlds with ultrathin mobile computers that are as small as mobiles and have the features of desktops.
  • SD-Insights
helps professional drivers improve their driving skills and lower mobility costs.
  • Temper offers a digital platform to match employers with employees in the hospitality industry.
  • Tryst Energy aims to replace all batteries in Internet of Things innovations by using only lux light energy.
  • Watermelon aims to make the process of online sales and customer service smooth and easy. It provides an overview of chat applications for use in digital client communication.
  • Winq is an online platform for developing, sharing and distributing personalised healthcare information and advice so patients and their carers can make better, informed choices.
