Mikalai Tsytsarau and Themis Palpanas of the dbTrento group, Data and Information Management Group at the University of Trento (DISI), have won the AI Mashup Challenge 2013 3rd prize for their work "TWINDEX Fuorisalone: Social listening of FuoriSalone 2013".

The Award was part of the European Semantic Web Conference 2013.

TWINDEX is a tool that facilitates social listening: it monitors, manages, and analyzes information posted on social media that is relevant to various events of interest. This tool allows analysts, as well as the public, to get the real-time pulse of city-scale events.

The project was carried out in collaboration with Marco Balduini, Emanuele Della Valle and Daniele Dell'Aglio from Politecnico di Milano, and Cristian Confalonieri from Studiolabo.

In the coming year, this work will significantly be enriched and expanded thanks to the funding from EIT ICT Labs, and to enlarged consortium that includes as partners Telecom Italia, Siemens, CNR, France Telecom, and Tehcnische Universiteit Delft.
