EIT Digital ACTIVE High Impact Initiative took a lead role at this month's IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC) in Montreal, with its High Impact Initiative, the Advanced Connectivity Platform for Vertical Segments organizing a full-day workshop on "Internet of Things, the Road Ahead."
The workshop, which covered applications, challenges and solutions, was well received, according to Sassan Iraji from the High Impact Initiative ACTIVE Team:
"The PIMRC organizing committee mentioned that our workshop, among the all 11 workshops, was extremely well organised, with top 12 accepted papers, two invited papers, and two keynotes. Our Keynotes were Dr Amit Mukhopadhyay, the Group Leader at the Future Wireless Networks Modelling, Bell Labs Consulting and Dr Ali Khayrallah, the Engineering director at Ericsson Research, Santa Clara, USA. They were later invited to the main conference panel discussion, which means we boosted even the main conference as well."
Iraji added: "The workshop was a whole day event, so it varied throughout of the day with 30 people in the room, on average. As there were other conference sessions and workshops, in parallel, having that many people in the room is really a success. We had very nice interactions and very good presentations during the workshop. We talked about our project, the HII ACTIVE and EIT Digital. It is good practice for EIT Digital to be in such international forums also for building awareness."
"PIMRC is one of the premier conferences in the wireless research arena and has a long history of bringing together academic, industry and regulatory bodies. Our workshop was organized as one of the dissemination plans for the whole ACTIVE High Impact Initiative, where we presented some of the results of our achievements and we attracted many interested people around the globe to present their results and exchange ideas with us."
